How deep should a trench be for drainage on a Dorrigo / Coffs Coast block?
It depends on what the trench is carrying and where the water needs to go, but most residential drainage trenches run 300–600mm deep with a steady fall so water moves through rather than pooling. Wet coastal clay holds water, so we grade the fall and use the right aggregate wrap to stop the line silting up. We'll set the depth and fall to suit your block and what you're trying to drain, not just dig a hole.
