Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in NSW?
Generally, walls under 600mm high and not near a boundary or a load don't need approval — but anything taller, near a fence line, or supporting a structure usually does, and local council rules apply. We'll talk you through what your wall needs and flag it before we start.

What retaining wall material suits wet coastal blocks?
Concrete sleepers and stone handle the damp best and won't rot, making them strong for wet-coast and slope work. Timber sleepers are cost-effective and look natural but need drainage done right and will eventually break down. Whatever the material, drainage and a proper footing are what stop a wall failing — we build both in from the start.
